Guardians Strikes Again

It’s Friday! A new Guardians film has been released on the BBC Earth Youtube Channel. This one was a whirlwind from start to finish but the end result is spectacular. Mark produced this film from the office in west Cork while working with Munmun who was out in the filed directing it. It covers snow leopards on The Roof of The World (aka The Himalayas) and it is really an amazing story. Camera trap research combined with hiring local women to act as monitors has resulted in over 50 scientific publications on one of the most elusive species on the planet. Climate change and conflict with humans over resources (mainly livestock) are the biggest threats to snow leopards and research like this is helping to further knowledge and understanding which will hopefully aid in protecting the species as a whole.

This work is physically demanding and dangerous, with the risk of falling, avalanches and rockslides being a constant.
